What You Will Need for Dry Brushing

  • A dry skin body brush, preferably with natural bristles.  Brushes come with or with out handles.  Handles help you with the hard to reach areas and the No-Handle Brush will give your more control and is easy to travel with.

  • A dry naked body

  • A shower to jump into afterward

Dry Brushing – How to Get Started

  • Get yourself naked in a room that is not carpeted – dry skin will be cascading off your body, you don’t want the flaky dead cells hiding out in the fibers of your carpet.

  • Cindy’s Tip – warm up the water in your shower, then turn the water off and hop in.

  • Before you bathe, brush your entire body, starting with your feet and working upwards with large, upward stroking motions.  Make sure both your skin and the brush bristles are dry.  Always brush towards your heart, as this encourages lymph flow to the main ducts of the lymphatic system.  Avoid brushing your face (unless you have a brush specifically designed to do so), as well as other sensitive areas.

  • Use more pressure on the feet, legs, arms, and butt; and less pressure on the front and back of torso.  When you’re finished, your skin should have a nice pink glow, but should not look red or feel irritated.

  • Follow each session with a shower or another form of hydrotherapy to rid the surface of your skin from any toxins that have been released.

Apart from making your feel great on the inside, it will also make your outer shell feel amazing and over time your skin will be soft.  It’s important that you set aside enough time for yourself so you can relax and enjoy this ritual.  Try your best to be present throughout the entirety of your dry brushing session.   Create a calm environment, light a candle, put on some music and this may just turn into your favorite part of your day.
